The plan shown in the Google Calendar was approved by the Troop Committee on 9/11/2022 and is synchronized from the calendar on Scoutbook.
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
To accomplish this there are 4 aims and 8 methods used. The aims are: character development, leadership development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. The methods are: The Ideals, Patrols, Outdoors, Advancement, Adult Association, Personal Growth, Leadership Development, and Uniform.
When a troop runs properly, their meetings and activities incorporate these aims and methods. With that said, it is important that a scout attend as many meetings as possible. To be considered active in the troop, a scout needs to attend more than 50% of the meetings + activities during a month.
Unless otherwise noted, meetings will be held at: Anthology of South Jordan (10569 River Heights Dr, South Jordan, UT 84095) . The meetings will begin at 7:00 pm, but please arrive early to facilitate the sign in process. Also, please remember to wear a mask while entering the facility and while around the residents.

One merit badge that I took to heart was the weather merit badge. To this day, I still remember going to the counselor's home with some of my troop ... the cool part was that he took us to the municipal side of the Salt Lake airport and he showed us several satellite photos showing weather patterns (long before they were animated on the news). If you scout is interested in doing the weather merit badge, I'll be the counselor. Please have them fill out the worksheet(http://usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/Weather.pdf) and email me a copy when done. For 9, do option A. For 10, have them write down their talk and give it to your family.
On a side note, later in my teenage years, as a family, we would go water-skiing several times a year and knowing the signs of impending bad weather became very important. A few years ago, we were at Rockport Reservoir and we noticed a bad storm rolling in. We pulled the boat off the lake, put the water toys away, started policing the pavilion and our group camp site. All just in time to get pounded by a fierce, yet short summer storm. The sun soon re-appeared and we started to get back our activities when a park ranger stopped by asking if we had seen a paddle boarder. My brother had seen him while clearing the beach prior to the storm hitting, but hadn't seen him since. He didn't give head to those beckoning to come ashore. He was overtaken by the storm, and didn't survive.
